It is a good idea to know which cars are one of the most likely to be attractive to thieves with your area. Probably the most stolen cars within the U.S. is something the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety decided was important to make certain is known. The new reports on one of the most popular cars stolen this year was just released by the IIHS. There is a surprising corollary, but one that thieves do not likely consider.

The Escalade is number one

Car thieves love to steal Cadillac Escalades more than any other vehicle. Not only that, but in six of the previous seven IIHS reports, the Escalade has been the leader of stolen automobiles. An Escalade will get stolen seven times more than other things. Despite the fact the luxury SUV does come with some anti-theft features, car thieves simply tow them away. The Escalade is targeted for its glamorous nature. This is in contrast to other luxury SUVs just like the Land Rovers that aren’t as targeted. You are able to find the rest of the report on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety . You should check it out.

Car thieves compared to raccoons

Seems like like raccoons want the same old things. Anything bring and shiny is on that list. Nobody actually knows if raccoons are attracted to these metals. There is proof that thieves like shinier cars though. The IIHS report typically has the same old cars. These contain luxury SUVs, luxury cars and full-size pickups. These are probably the most stolen automobiles:

Try out the Cadillac Escalade

Ford F250 4 Door

The Infiniti G37 2 door is the next car

Dodge Charger HEMI

Next is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Hummer H2

The Nissan Pathfinder Armada is next

Chevrolet Avalanche 1500

Now there is the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew

GMC Yukon

Performance cars, luxurious SUVs and big pickups are what thieves try to find. Usually there are tools in trucks too, which thieves won’t complain about.

This list is comparable to one more list

There is another list these cars are all on. The Escalade and Ford F250 are on the list. This list is the Forbes Worst Made Cars on the Road. Avoid buying flashy new cars. This is something thieves look to get. Unless you’ve the cash for a new car.

Sometimes, a automobile featured in a major motion picture or legendary television sequence becomes almost as famous as the star of the motion picture or TV sequence itself. A vehicle exactly like the one in the famous show is a star in its very own right at times. These automobiles could hold good value over the years. Granted, sometimes it could be due to “product placement,” when a motion picture company deliberately puts a auto in a movie to boost demand.

Scenes are easy to steal behind the right wheel

Chances are just about everyone may think of a few famous autos from TV or film that have a special place within their hearts. Some individuals even purchase a car depending a movie they saw this summer or remember from their youth. Here’s a small list of some iconic cars.

The Chevy Camaro; many a TV show and movie have had Camaros in them. Among the lots of the recent “Lost” auction was a Camaro from various episodes. The sales for the brand new Camaro was probably boosted a lot by the vintage and brand new models within the “Transformers” motion picture series.

The Ford Mustang: the motion picture “Bullitt” featured a 1968 Ford Mustang GT Fastback driven by Steve McQueen. Consider also the 1973 Mach 1 and also the 1967 Shelby GT500. Both were central to the plots of the original and remake version of “Gone in 60 Seconds.” Ford even offered a “Bullitt” package on the 2001 Mustang.

DeLorean DMC 12 – The time machine from “Back to the Future” made this vehicle a legend. When it came out, though, it wasn’t the smash hit the movie was. It was considered an underpowered mechanical lemon that happened to look cool.

The Dodge Charger. The automobile chasing Steve McQueen in “Bullitt” was a 1968 Charger. The Charger was also famously one of the automobiles in Quentin Tarantino’s “Deathproof,” and was also the “General Lee” in the sequence and motion picture version of “The Dukes of Hazard.”

The Pontiac Trans Am. The ridiculously fast Firebird package was “KITT” within the “Knight Rider” sequence and featured heavily in “Smokey and the Bandit” as Burt Reynolds’ auto of choice.

But how about my Bentley?

No auto, before or since, has come anywhere near to the legendary status of the Aston Martin DB5. An auction held several years ago had as one of the lots a DB5 that was really used in the movie “Goldfinger.” It went for over $2 million. The “James Bond” franchise and Aston Martin have a long history. There were a few other films had a DB5; it wasn’t just “Goldfinger”. “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” featured a DBS, and “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace” both had Aston Martins. The Bond sequence throws the little fish of vehicles into the sea.

Automotive News shows us that automakers are nevertheless shy about making cars despite the economic c climate of recession and also the taxpayer auto bailout with it. That’s because low factory inventory is becoming the rule rather than the exception lately. You will find more individuals buying cars but dealers do not have the cars they have to sell them. The representation of auto brands was put into a survey that showed there weren’t enough vehicles to sell at 160 of 244 responding dealers. Less sales were made because of this.

Buyers not purchasing with low inventory

Dealerships are losing business through low inventory. Customers leave unsatisfied with what happened. Not enough GMCs, Hondas, Hyundais, Chevrolets or other autos are available, which constitutes a wide portion of the automotive spectrum. One dealer told Automotive News that automakers “have driven supplies too low,” yet dealers like him are certain they could sell more if stock was available. Cars like the GMC Terrain tend to be among probably the most problematic cars to acquire for dealers, yet makers like General Motors, Ford and also the Chrysler continue to take a hard line on boosting profits when maintaining low inventory. Automakers are cutting a lot. Dealers do not like it.

Factories making an effort

Helping dealers is a priority for automakers, but these exact same automakers are cautious to avoid the overproduction that drove the industry to the gates of ruin. Dealers do not want more cars than they can sell, either. Right now is a time that we need to move forward from the high incentive and low resale value cars. Automotive News reported this after talking with Tom Henderson. There are some things that have to be done. Demand has been really high for the Chevrolet Equinox and the EMC Terrain. This is why a new plant was made for manufacturing bodies in Ingersoll, Ontario. There isn’t really any room within the plant to finish bodies in there with paint and finish. GM has to send the bodies two hours east to get all this done.

Finding choice energizes and greener ways of getting from point A to point B now is back in the spotlight. Calgary, Alberta’s Motive Industries is introducing an electric automobile with a bio-composite design that will surely take Canada by storm. The bio-composite auto can be known as the Kestrel, and the green bio factor is hemp. Yes, that’s right; it’s a marijuana automobile.

Marijuana vehicle something of the Hemp-car Podium

The Kestrel will no doubt spur clouds of controversy. But Hempcar.org’s 10,000-mile test run of a hemp biofueled car proved that it could work. The experimental vehicle they used ran on hemp biodiesel, which is not presently the case with the Kestrel, although it may eventually come to pass. If only the U.S. would legalize the growing of industrial hemp, they could enjoy such vehicular greenery. Considering that the industrial hemp necessary has no psychoactive properties and is not a drug, Hemp-car.org found America’s lack of response bewildering.

Motive gets the hemp from Alberta Innovates

Alberta Innovates Technology Futures provides the hemp for the Kestrel and purchases its cannabis stock from an industrial hemp farm located in Vegreville, Alberta. Fast Company reports the use of hemp in frame/body construction makes for a much lighter car, plus it’s easy to recycle parts. Not only that, but the hemp compound is as strong as glass composite. While Kestrel still has a solutions to go before full production, Motive expects they’ll be able to start testing by year’s end.

Back in 1925, Henry Ford knew it would work

“The fuel of the future is going to come from fruit like that sumach out by the road, or from apples, weeds, sawdust — almost anything,” said the prescient Henry Ford to the New York Times during the Good Depression. “There is fuel in every bit of vegetable matter that can be fermented”.

Henry Ford most certainly was including hemp within the above discussion. He even went as far as to construct a automobile of resin-stiffened hemp fiber that ran on ethanol made from hemp. Ford could have saved the country’s farmers from the grip of the Great Depression. There would have been mutual benefit. The Marijuana Tax Act of 1937 threw a wrench within the works. Thanks in large part to the influence of the DuPont company and newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst, cannabis was criminalized in America.

A good way to keep your car’s engine control modules (ECMs) up to date would be erasing and reprogramming, otherwise known as flashing, your engine’s computer. This is done on nearly all cars 1996 and newer to ensure the microprocessors in such areas as the power train and fuel injectors are regulating their systems properly. Your engine does much better when the programming is up to date. If you need someone else to do it at a repair shop, it is likely going to cost between $ 80 and $ 120, reports Underhood Service. Your car could be flashed by you when you have the right equipment around. Source of article – How to reprogram your engine computer by Car Deal Expert.

Engine computer reprogramming solution

If you would like to reprogram your engine computer yourself then you should be able to discover the diagnostic port under the steering wheel inside the car which you will attach a special scanner to. Old programming is erased, and then changed with the most up-to-date software provided by the auto manufacturer. It used to be that it was necessary to remove parts in order to complete the reprogramming process, but now all that’s necessary is a computer with an Internet connection, a USB cable and a scanning device that can connect with a car’s diagnostic port. The ECM is flashed with the new software direct from the manufacturer’s site.

How often does the ECM need to be flashed?

If you were to ask your auto repair shop this question, they would suggest doing it each and every few years, which could be ok for you to do. Whenever you notice your car needs to be updated on its programming, then it is a good idea to do the flashing then, although if there is a recall then having your car flashed is necessary. It surely is not something a car owner should pay for as part of routine automobile maintenance.

Using a DAY flasher to do the work

It is simple to do usually. Check out the vehicle manufacturer’s site to see if any software updates are available. The update can be put in a device for flash programming. Proper engine turning is a concern for some which may require more software. Consult sources like DIYEFI.org for more specific information. Before doing anything, your state’s motor car authority should be consulted considering states like California have touch emissions testing making it illegal to do some different engine reprogramming.

Get a new car without the worry of needing to do ECM programming with auto loan for bad credit

This model is basically a part of F-series and most driven pick up in America. It is also included in the list of best selling vehicles as it is one of the most popular trucks from last 23 years. This vehicle came into existence in 1975 to replace the nameplate of F-100. This vehicle repeatedly won maximum awards for being safest pick up. It is the most popular compact truck in its class. Its main highlights are refined cabin having comfortable front seats, excellent automatic transmission system and also possess very high towing and hauling capacity.

Trucks/motorcycle repair manuals are usually not stocked with different facilities, but Ford F- 150′s/1973 ford f300 steering parts interior and exterior features totally differentiate it from other trucks. From outside, these trucks offer chrome front and rear bumpers, box rail and tailgate moldings, parking lamps, tie-down hooks, pick-up boxes, running board and step bars. On inside view stylish facilities continue, which include front cloth benches, split-folding rear seats, electronic automatic temperature control, speed control, tilt steering wheel, rear window defroster, cup holders, power windows, under hood lights, and a power sliding rear window. The most powerful truck f-150 has towing capacity up to 15000 pounds and really it’s a remarkable feature that this truck only weighs about 1000 pounds.

Standard safety feature of these trucks include LATCH child restraint system, Second Generation driver and passenger airbags, SecuriLock passive anti-theft system, and remote keyless entry. The most amazing fact about this vehicle is that it can carry a lot of people and stuff. From outside it looks strong and macho, but its classy looks from insides define it in best way. Ford manufacturers periodically update its interior. Its redesign in last year brought up new modifications such as floor of the rear seating area is now completely flat and a huge parcel can be accommodated behind the front seats.

The new Ford -F 150 with a coat of protective technology and list of safety features rated it best among other rivals. Its prominent safety features comprise of curtain airbags to protect front and backseat travelers, antilock brakes and an electronic stability system with grip control and Roll Stability Control. Additional safety features include “Trailer Sway Control,” which means it can take control of both breaking effort and engine speed to “get both vehicle and trailer under control.” Most of trucks faced the problem of visibility but Ford manufactures has made every effort to improve sightedness from driver’s seat.

Everybody wants to know the ways they can conserve probably the most gas. Various additive products exist that supposedly improve a car’s fuel economy, but these products have been met with skepticism by experts. Driving techniques like hypermiling have grounding in scientific fact. However, one driving technique that some associate with fuel economy – coasting in neutral as the engine is idling – has little to do with effective hypermiling, reports Popular Mechanics. It is also very dangerous to do.

Accelerator doesn’t work when in neutral

If drivers experience road hazards while coasting in neutral, they can’t use the accelerator pedal to avoid the danger. Being in neutral also prevents you from getting around sharp corners. The engine and drive train aren’t connected anymore.

Trying to conserve gas?

It doesn’t make any sense that gas can be saved when in neutral. When a car is just sitting there, Popular Mechanics explain one gallon of gas goes every hour. You will use .033 gallons of gas just being in neutral down a mile hill at 30 mph.

Engine still runs on rpm

Through studies with an oscilloscope, it has been proven the pulse-width-modulated wave signal controlling the fuel injector of a car varies from 5 percent to 80 percent from idle to full throttle. There is more rpm with percentage going up meaning more gas is being used. Ultimately, once the car reaches the bottom of a hill – or as a car creeps up to a traffic light – the engine eventually slows to an idle rpm, about 1,000 rpm. This varies somewhat by car. At that point, the car’s fuel injection starts adding fuel to keep the engine from stalling out. The driver feels a rev up at the exact same moment a pulse increases on the oscilloscope. According to Popular Mechanics, this shows that really, gas is just getting used when it doesn’t need to be.

Tricking the trip computer

For a variety of reasons, when a car is coasting in neutral, inaccurate readings are being sent to the trip computer. Increased mileage which is a “false positive” is shown to your computer. Whenever you analyze fuel economy, it will be better to look at the gallons in tank up against your odometer. Sitting in neutral is worse than simply turning off your automobile at a red light reports Popular Mechanics.

The Chevy Volt is one thing Rush Limbaugh has interested himself in by making comments about as General Motors’ new electric car. Politico reports Limbaugh saying $ 41,000 is “a steep price to pay for showing you care about the environment”. While auto industry executives call the Volt a “game-changing product,” Limbaugh has criticized the $ 7,500 tax credit the Obama administration is offering to those consumers who purchase the automobile. Limbaugh’s argument is that a game-changing product shouldn’t need a tax incentive to sell.

Car industry must be doing better with the release of the Chevy Volt

A car like the Chevy Volt that is battery powered and gas powered shows the industry is doing much better, says Robert Gibbs of the White House. The U.S. makes the Chevy Volt vehicle along with its lithium-ion battery meaning the Obama administration is thrilled it is going through. Obviously not everybody is happy about this new development.

Limbaugh criticizes just the battery

Despite the Volt battery’s outstanding warranty program, Rush Limbaugh has chosen to focus on why the battery only allows the automobile to travel 40 miles (the gas tank that kicks in afterward grants another 340 miles) and why it takes “three to four hours” to recharge. Limbaugh feels so strongly about the situation that any GM ads that were going to run during his show were canceled. GM received quite a bit of money when it came to bailout time so Limbaugh nicknamed the company “Obama Motors”.

‘Expensive ways to promote the environmentalist agenda’ it is called by him

Limbaugh feels like the $ 41,000 Chevrolet Volt and also the $ 30,000 Toyota Prius have to be cheaper. Others might argue the reduction of emissions is worth it within the long run, and the technology will gradually become less costly. All technology has this problem, and as a consequence, so does all those who buy it. Getting it first means you’ll be paying more for it. Admittedly, some consumers may have to wait, but as green cars like the Chevy Volt advance automotive technology, the wait will no doubt be rewarded.
